The part ordered was not the part that was supplied, however with considerable expert knowledge and no little effort it was finally fitted and, with some modifications, it now appears to be working satisfactorily
The schematic supplied was not adequate to provide the detail required to fit and secure the replacement part.
The salesperson appeared to have insufficient knowledge of the item ordered and insisted that the part supplied was the same as that ordered. It was not.

We were advised by the manufacturer that the part had been superseded, and they supplied the information on how to fit. If you want you can take it up with them as we have no control over superseded parts supplied and as you stated it works.
