although the service staff were very helpful, the diagrams they sent were for the correct model but the governor spring was not shown and was told the other spring shown was the one I needed. this proved to be incorrect and I researched other avenues and found the part was not shown on the diagram because it was never actually available as a spare part. this does seem a bit strange, it means I will never again touch another masport mower . I eventually solved the problem by using an old Honda governor spring.
